Salisbury
- Great Places To Eat & Drink
As you might expect from a
town so popular with vacation makers to England, Salisbury has no
shortage of pleasant places to eat and drink. There are multiple eating
places, café’s, pubs and more within touching
distance of Market Place.
If
you’re starved in Salisbury Cathedral then pop into the
Cathedral Refrectory eatery – there’s a wide
assortment of hot and cold snacks. Not astounding, but convenient if
you plan to do the Cathedral in a lot of detail.
One of the most
esteemed taphouses in Salisbury serves up many tasty Sunday lunches and
food in general – The Cloisters is situated on Catherine
Street – live bands and discotheques are also regularly held.
Near Market
Square is the Bakers Oven – favourable for a fast, cheap
lunch as they do some nice sandwiches.
On Bridge
Street, right in the city centre is Bishops Mill, a eating house set in
a 17th century building – it’s slightly more pricy
than the standard Salisbury fare but however well worth a visit.
For more
conventional frequents, there is a Pizza Express and Pizza Hut opposite
Market Square (within a two minute walk of one another). Too on Market
Square is the bubbly Market Inn pub – centrally based and
offering a fair selection of mostly English food and drink. Another pub
with a lot of character is the Haunch of Venison, rooted in a building
that dates to the 1320. The pub is on Minster Street. Getting back to
Market Square, Mr T’s is a nice café with a varied
menu and great bites.
Lxix is one of
the grooviest eateries in Salisbury – the atmosphere and
surroundings are very stylish and so are the prices. The food is
preponderantly British in substance and flavour.
You can enjoy
some good old fashioned Fish & Chips in Salisbury at the
Harbour Fish & Chips Restaurant. Costs are moderate. On High
Street is the reputed Prezzo, serving up good Italian food including
Pizza and Pasta. Near the railway station on Fisherton Street is The
Dragon, a functional Chinese eating place and one of the Oriental
choices Salisbury has to offer up.
There are also
a couple of bars to savor in Salisbury – Moloko (Bridge
Street), Spirit and NN Bar (both on Catherine Street) are a couple of
the choices.
