Salisbury
- Interesting Points Of Discovery
Salisbury
Museum
A
stone’s throw from Salisbury is the Salisbury Museum
– the museum is situated in the fascinating Kings House.
There’s all sorts of historic information on Salisbury
including a lot of info on Stonehenge (why it may have been developed
and by whom).
Wilton
House
Wilton House
has close associations to both Henry VIII and William Herbert. Henry
actually presented Wilton House to William in 1541 and the estate
doesn’t let down, with grounds stretching over 8 hectares and
building interiors that feature splendid painted ceilings, exquisite
hanged paintings and more. Surrounding the house are wonderfully
manicured gardens. The house is about 2 miles west of Salisbury and is
well worth a travel to if you’re around long enough.
If this matters
to you, there’s also the beautiful Malmesbury House nearby
– built in the thirteenth century, the house was the home of
the first Earl of Malmesbury.
